Publication Date: 1 June 2006
Status: active
Page Count: 43
scope:

The purpose of this document is to ensure interoperability of IP services among SNMS terminals and hubs in a SNMS network that provides hub-spoke and mesh connectivity. SNMS employs standards based satellite physical and data link layer technologies [2]. The present document tries to minimize dependency between network/upper layer and lower layer functions.

This document presents SNMS network and functional architecture, and applies existing standards to meet the interoperability requirements. In areas that lack existing standards, the present document specifies the minimum requirements for interoperability.

This document is part of the TIA/EIA SNMS standard suite (Figure 1) that defines the SNMS functional capabilities, network and system architectures, interoperability requirements, and protocols.
