This Practice describes the requirements for general design principles, hydraulic selection criteria, net positive suction head considerations, jacket and driver considerations, and energy evaluations for design of pumping systems that use centrifugal pumps.

Fire water pumps should be designed in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards and are not covered by this Practice.

This document is a complete revision of PIP RESP001, and therefore, revision markings are not provided.
