Content and Coverage
(a) This Code prescribes requirements for the materials, design, fabrication, assembly, erection, examination, inspection, and testing of piping.
(b) This Code applies to piping for all fluids, including:
(1) raw, intermediate, and finished chemicals;
(2) petroleum products;
(3) gas, steam, air, and water;
(4) fluidized solids; and
(5) refrigerants; except as provided in para. 300.1.2 or 300.1.3.
(c) Except as excluded in para. 300.1.3, this Code covers all piping within the property limits of facilities engaged in the processing or handling of chemical, petroleum, or related products, Examples are a chemical plant (including nonradioactive fluids in a nuclear fuel reprocessing plant), petroleum refinery, loading terminal, natural gas processing plant (including liquefied natural gas facilities), bulk plant, compounding plant, and tank farm.
