scope:

This specification covers diesel or gasoline engine driven, four-wheel, two-rear-wheel drive, truck chassis, trucks and truck tractors having minimum gross vehicle weights (GVW) of 6350 to 9530 kilograms (kg) (14,000 to 21,000 pounds), for normal operating conditions. Vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items which are warranted by the manufacturer as specified in acquisition documents (for military contracts) or as specified in 6.5 through 6.5.4 (for civil agency contracts).

The vehicle shall be one of the types and classes shown in table I, as specified (see 6.2): TABLE I. Vehicle classification.

The class of the vehicle shall be determined by its minimum gross vehicle weight rating as follows:

Class A - 6350 kg (14,000 pounds) Class B - 7250 kg (16,000 pounds) Class C - 8600 kg (19,000 pounds) Class D - 9530 kg (21,000 pounds).
