Organization: NAVISTAR
Publication Date: 1 July 1999
Status: inactive
Page Count: 22
scope:

1.0 SCOPE

This method covers a procedure for calculating minimum, mean, and maximum ideal critical diameters (DI, for base chemical composition (Dm) and for case chemical composition Dlc wrought and cast heat treatable steels. The calculated values of D are intend to serve as a guide to the range of hardenability that can be expected for a grade of steels. Steels without standard hardenability (H) bands can be therefore be compared to those with H bands.
