scope:
This specification establishes minimum requirements for instrument, rolling contact ball bearings. Instrument ball bearings comprise bearings with critical functional requirements defined by application in a device that can, in any way or general sense, be characterized as an instrument, instrument system quality component or precision rotating component, and which have Annular Bearing Engineering Committee (ABEC) tolerances of 5P, 7P, and 9P, and are manufactured from 440C corrosion-resistant steel or SAE 52100 chrome steel.
