This standard covers the minimum requirements for the purity of compressed breathing air supplied to the breathing zone, and for the breathing air systems required to produce and distribute such air for use in the following application:
(a) air-supplied respirators, hoods, or suits;
(b) self-contained breathing apparatus;
(c) diving equipment for use in less than 75 m (246 ft) depths of water; and
(d) such other industrial or sports-oriented equipment requiring a supply of breathing air.
This standard also includes requirements applicable to the construction, testing, operation, and maintenance of compressors, cylinders, receivers, and piping systems that supply compressed breathing air.
This standard does not apply to medical air, refer to CSA Standard Z305.1.
