Scope and Applicability.

The policies and responsibilities assigned in this instruction apply to the DON shore establishment and the active and reserve operating forces.

Purpose.

To update Department of the Navy (DON) policy, procedures and responsibilities under references (a) through (i) when consulting with representatives of federally recognized Indian tribes, including Alaska Native governments, on issues with the potential to impact protected tribal resources, tribal rights, or Indian lands. This Instruction has been administratively revised and should be reviewed in its entirety.
