scope:
This Standard provides requirements for thermostat models intended to be used for line-voltage (12-240 V) switching of a controlled resistive heating load that may include a fan, if so specified or provided for by the thermostat manufacturer. It includes single- and double-pole thermostats controlling their load either by fast or slow ON/OFF switching. These models may be one of the following types:
(a) line-voltage wall-mounted;
(b) line-voltage built-in (up to 1500 w>; or
(c) line-voltage two-component thermostats.
This Standard provides performance requirements regarding thermal regulation and power line quality. The thermal regulation requirements are defined for a dual-climate room test Set-up. The power line quality requirements specify the level of emissions that may be generated by the line-voltage thermostats and their level of susceptibility to electromagnetic disturbances that may be present on the power line.
This Standard provides requirements only for local zone thermostats; it does not apply to central heating units under the control of a single thermostat.
