MODUK - DEF STAN 61-12: PART 29

Wires, Cords, and Cables, Electrical-Metric Units Part 29: Wires and Cables, Extruded Insulation, Types ETFE and ETFE "CANCELLED" Metsheath 135 Degrees C Tin Plated, and 150 Degrees C Silver Plated Conductors

inactive, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 9 January 1987
Status: inactive
Page Count: 40
scope:

This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for six types of wires end cables insulated with an extruded fluorinated polymer.

These wires and cables are suitable for use where the potential between conductors, or between a conductor and a metal braid, or equipment structure, surrounding the cable does not exceed 600 V (rms) and where the combination of ambient temperature and temperature rise due to the current produces a stabilized conductor temperature not exceeding 135°C for tinned copper conductors and 150°C for silver plated copper conductors.

These wires and cables are suitable for flexible applications down to minus 40°C and for fixed applications down to minus 75°C.

These wires and cables do not support combustion and will withstand contamination with ester based lubricants and with ester based hydraulic fluids when tested in accordance with BS G230 test 29.

The six types, differing in their conductors and total thickness of insulation (thus in their weight and resistance to abrasion) are available unscreened or screened and jacketed by using the appropriate columns of Tables IA to IF.
