PREFACE

This manual is an Allied Ordnance Publication (AOP) prepared in accordance with Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 3898 AA and in accordance with AAP-3 (E) procedures.

The purpose of this manual is to aid in the planning, designing, and testing of new munitions and aircraft, and to assist in the adaption of existing munitions and stores to new aircraft. It is intended for use within the U.S. Department of Defense, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and defense related private industry.

This manual is useful in revealing possible interference between stores and the structures, pylons, bomb racks, and other related equipment of the aircraft meant to carry them. It is to be used as a preliminary tool and in no way supersedes the compatibility testing or fit-and-function check requirements specified by MIL-STD-1289, as revised. It will also be useful as a ready reference to the more detailed manufacturer's drawings when further investigation is required. It is prepared and revised for the NATO U.S. Custodian by Naval Air Warfare Center Joint Ordnance Commanders Sub-group for aircraft/stores compatibility.

Requests for this manual should be submitted through your national Air Armament Working Party (AAWP) Co-ordinating Office.

Recommendations for additions, deletions, or changes should be specific (refer to particular drawings or paragraphs, as applicable) and supported by background information. Drawings submitted for inclusion in this manual shall be in accordance with the guidelines in annex A. Recommendations or a nil reply should be submitted through your national AAWP Co-ordinating Office to reach the Custodian by 1 June each year. Send correspondence to:
