PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to establish instructions for preparing MSFC Program/Project documentation in accordance with MPG 7120.3.

APPLICABILITY

This instruction applies to the preparation of Program/Project-specific and Multiprogram/Project common-use documentation prepared in-house. Existing approved documents are not required to be reformatted to meet the latest revision of this instruction. External documents are prepared as specified by the originating entity or as specified in the contract. Departures from the documentation preparation and revision requirements specified herein are allowable to meet a unique program/project special need. However, the rationale and the methodology for these unique systems shall be documented by the Program/Project (in the Project Plan or the Data Management Plan). Furthermore, the documents discussed in paragraph 6.1, first sentence, and 6.2 are excluded from this departure process. The numbering system for drawings and parts lists in MSFC-STD-555 shall be used for flight products; however, it may be used for non-flight products. If it is not used, the substitute system shall be documented.
