scope:
The present document specifies the basic Radio Link Control (RLC) sublayer of HIPERLAN/2. The RLC sublayer is used to control radio association, resources and connection.HIPERLAN type 2 is confined to the two lowest layers of the open systems interconnection (OSI) model, the physical and the data link control layer. The TR 101 683 [21] contains an overall description of the HIPERLAN type 2 system.
The interworking with higher layers is handled by convergence layers on top of the data link control layer. The Packet based Convergence Layer is described in [18], [19], [20] and the Cell based Convergence Layer in [16], [17].
The PHY layer is described in [4].
The present document does not address the requirements and technical characteristics for type approval and conformance testing. These are covered by separate documents.
