scope:
This regulation applies to all Department of the Army activities engaged in the inventory management and storage of Army managed/owned materiel. It provides instructions for use in the identification, restoration, and reporting of shelf-life items, and includes recommendations for minimizing costs of controlling these items from point of initial acquisition through final disposition. Class V supplies (ammunition), perishable subsistence, and bulk petroleum commodities are excluded from the provisions of this regulation.
Purpose. This regulation prescribes policies, responsibilities, and procedures pertaining to the identification, control, and utilization of shelf-life items under the inyentory management of the Department of the Army.
