MODUK - DEF STAN 81-13

Cylinders, Compressed Gas, and Valves, Cylinder, Gas, for Ground, Marine, Airborne, and Medical Uses

GENERAL INFORMATION

Except in the case of Table I(C), the cylinders listed are the bare unpainted shells and may be used for various gases; similarly, some of the valves listed are suitable for use with different gases. Hence there are several possible combinations of cylinders and valves. Because of this, further aspects of standardization such as colour coding, symbol marking, etc are not included in the tables; details of these aspects can be obtained by reference to the specification quoted for each cylinder or valve.

For the same reason, Service Management Codes. or Reference Numbers are not included in the tables, since Service departments will not normally provision for bare unpainted shells, but for complete assemblies of cylinders and valves, painted and stencilled, in accordance with the relevant requirements, for the gas with which they will be filled.

When reference is made to the British Standards or other specifications, drawings or documents listed in the tables, users must ensure that the I latest issue is followed.

This Standard has been prepared with the active co-operation of the manufacturers of gas cylinders and gas cylinder, valves, and all items listed are standard products.
