This Standard covers performance testing of socket- and saddle-type polyethylene electrofusion fittings that are used to join polyethylene pipe where the heat source is an integral part of the fitting.
Note:Fittings covered by this Standard are connected to an electrical power source during the fusion process. Power sources, cables, and electrical connections are covered by the Canadian Electrical Code, Parts I and 11, as appropriate.
Electrofusion fittings are intended for use with polyethylene pipe that conforms to CSA Standard CAN3-B137.4.
This Standard includes definitions and reference publications, general requirements for materials, performance requirements, requirements for manufactured fittings, specimen preparation requirements, test methods, marking requirements, and workmanship requirements.
