STANDARD TEST METHODS FOR WATER AND SEDIMENT IN CRUDE OILS
|Publication Date:||27 August 1973|
|ICS Code (Crude petroleum):||75.040|
These test methods cover the determination of water and sediment in crude oil by centrifuging.
With some types of crudes it is difficult to determine the percentage of water and sediment with the centrifuge method. When this occurs, the sum of the results obtaines by Test Method D 4006 - API Chapter 10.2 and Test Method D 473 - API Chapter 10.1 shall be assumed to be the correct value for water and sediment. These methods shall be considered as the "Base Method" and shall be used: (1) as a standard test for crude having characteristics not suitable for test by centrifuge method, and (2) as a reference method to provide the basis for accepting other methods by mutual agreement.
