scope:

This specification covers a commercial, gasoline or diesel engine-driven, four-wheel, two-rear-wheel-drive, or four-wheel-drive, stake and platform truck having a gross vehicle weight (GVW) rating of not less than 24,000 pounds (lbs) (10 886 kilograms (kg)), equipped with a rear-of-cab mounted revolving articulating boom type crane. The trucks procured under this specification are commercial items which shall be warranted as specified in the procurement documents.

Truck shall be one of the following types, as specified (see 6.2):

Type I - 4 by 2 truck chassis.

Type II - 4 by 4 truck chassis. Beneficial comments, recommendations, additions, deletions, clarifications, etc. and any data which may improve this document should be sent to: Commanding Officer (Code 1581), Naval Construction Battalion Center, 1000 23rd Avenue, Port Hueneme, CA 93043-4301, by using the Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.

The trucks covered by this specification are intended for use in loading, unloading, and transporting munitions at military installations.
