This standard (Part 3) establishes human engineering design criteria for aerospace vehicles and aerospace vehicle equipment as defined herein. Human engineering for pilot and copilot stations not covered in any other military standards shall conform to the criteria in this standard. As a general rule, existing human engineering criteria can be applied to the design of space vehicle equipment. The design of space vehicles, however, will require some unique applications of human engineering principles and criteria as a result of the weightless environment within which the man must function.
