scope:
PURPOSE.
This standard establishes uniform methods for environmental tests for determining the resistance of aerospace and ground equipment to the deleterious effects of natural and induced environments peculiar to military operations. The test methods contained herein are intended to specify suitable conditions obtainable in the laboratory which give test results similar to actual service conditions, to obtained reproducibility of the results of tests, and to serve as a guide for those engaged in preparing the environmental test portions of detail specifications. THE STANDARD IS INTENDED FOR NEW ENGINEERING AND DESIGN. IT SHOULD NOT BE APPLIED IN RETROSPECT.
