Gyroscopes covered by this specification are intended for use in applications requiring space stabilization or measurements of angular rate of change from a fixed reference. This gyroscope design has successfully endured the environmental extremes outlined herein. However, because of the precision nature of this device severe exposure, particularly to low temperature, is to be avoided for improved reliability and performance. To avoid buildup of excessive internal pressure, do not expose or operate the gyroscope at temperatures exceeding specified limits. For best drift stability and spin motor life, the spin motor should not be energized when the gyroscope is at lower than operating temperature (3.10.6).
