scope:

This specification covers portable insulation resistance-indicating ohmmeters of the hand-driven generator type for use in determining insulation resistance of electric circuits and equipment.

Classification. - The ohmmeters shall be furnished in the following types, as specified:

Type GC - General purpose, 0 to 100 meg-ohm range, 500 volt source, 1/ constant voltage, hand-driven generator type.

Type GM - General purpose, 0 to 1000 meg-ohm range, 500 volt source, 1/ constant voltage, hand-driven generator type.

Type PC -Pocket size, 0 to 100 megohm range, 500 volt source, 1/ hand-driven generator type.

Type PM - Pocket size, 0 to 1000 megohm range, 500 volt source, 1/ hand-driven generator type.

1/ The 500 volt rating is nominal and deviations from this value are acceptable provided the tests of section 4 are met.
