This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for a corrosion preventive for the preservation of interior surfaces of hollow sections and underbodies of vehicles and certain artillery components. Also in certain other equipments where the frequent application and removal of the preventive is necessary to conduct routine inspections. It is not suitable for application over a solvent-deposited bituminous film or other thick temporary protective.

The product may be applied to bare metal or over an existing paint system using airless spraying or pressure feed techniques, but must also be capable of being applied by brush or spatula to local areas.

The product shall be capable of removal by spraying, wiping or brushing with suitable hydrocarbon solvents, eg white spirit.
