This specification covers two types of soil penetrometers.
Penetrometers shall be of the following types, as specified (see 6.2):
Type I - Proving ring, dial indicating (Two Cones).
Type II - Tension spring, spring indicating (Airfield Cone).
The military specification part number for the soil penetrometer shall be as follows:
intended Use:
The penetrometer is intended to measure soil strength.
