PURPOSE. This order applies to all Designated Alteration Station (DAS) and those Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects that have not yet been submitted by a program notification letter. Its purpose is to guide Aircraft Certification Service (AIR), Flight Standards Service (AFS), and DAS organizations altering prototypes at off-site locations. Included is an explanation of the roles and responsibilities of those involved in the DAS STC process. This guidance supersedes all previous policy regarding off-site DAS projects.
