scope:
This publication describes requirements for the certification of companies' project management according to the IRP Methodology. The certification covers the four processes: Analysing, Sales, Project, and Opera-tion/Support. Each of the four processes is treated as a separate project where the project manager hands over the result to a steering committee as a basis for the next process. The Analysing Process is used for internal projects. The purpose is to specify the solution to be delivered, the potential return, etc. and to ensure optimum use of corporate re-sources. The Sales Process is used for external projects. The process handles customer qualifica-tion, needs assessment, project definition, delivery of proposal, contract closing, etc. The Project Process is used for developing and delivering the solution that has already been specified in the Analysing or Sales Process. The purpose is to ensure predictable and well-managed project execution, professional change control, quality assurance as well as schedule and budget control. The Operation and Support Process is used for delivering the specified operation and support. For external projects, the process also ensures that the possibility of carrying out new projects for the same customer is fully explored. Organisations have the option of certification in all four processes or one or more processes only. The IRP Methodology is a process-based methodology for project management as a corporate business competence.
