This standard specifies the video coding and decoding methods for the moving picture component of audiovisual teleservices at the rate of p 64 kbit/s, where p is the range 1 to 30, in the end-to end protocol. It applies in respect of connections over the pan-European Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) as provided by European public telecommunications operators, or by any other digital telecommunications network.
Further part(s) of this standard specify the method of testing required to identify conformance to his standard.
This standard is applicable to terminal equipment, and other equipment (e.g. interworking units, multipoint units) supporting audiovisual teleservices.
