scope:

This Guidance Document applies to the management of all inspection, measuring and test equipment requiring calibration which is used to maintain assets which are the responsibility of the Lifts, Escalators and Pumps department. This instruction does not apply to equipment owned and used by contractors under the terms of their contracts with London Underground.

Purpose

The purpose of this Guidance Document is to ensure:

• All inspection, measuring and testing equipment used in the maintenance of Lifts, Escalators & Pumps is calibrated to National Standards using the MIS calibration centre. 
• The serial number of calibrated equipment used in these maintenance activities is recorded on the relevant Ellipse Work Order for traceability. 
• All equipment not meeting these requirements will be withdrawn from use.
