scope:
This document specifies minimum requirements for oils for high thermal stress (high temperature service) in turbines. Turbine oils are mineral oils containing additives designed to improve corrosion protection and ageing resistance. Where turbine oils are to provide enhanced resistance to wear, the requirements specified in Clause 4 also apply.
The turbine oils specified in this document are used in lubrication and, in some cases, control systems in steam turbines, gas turbines, in machines with electric drive or such driven by steam turbines (such as generators, compressors, pumps), and in drive mechanisms.
For turbine oils for normal temperature service, the requirements according to DIN 51515-1 apply.
