This ETS describes the security mechanisms in the Trans-European Trunked Radio (TETRA) Packet Data Optimized (PDO) standard. It provides mechanisms for authentication and key management mechanisms for the air interface. Clause 4 describes the authentication and key management mechanisms for the TETRA air interface. The following two authentication services have been specified for the air-interface in ETR 086-3 [3], based on a threat analysis: - authentication of a user by the RPDI; - authentication of the RPDI by a user.
