This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, and profiles.

This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, and profiles (shapes) produced with cross sectional area of 18.5 square inches (11 935 mm2) maximum and a circumscribing circle diameter (circle size) of 14.5 inches (368.3 mm) maximum (See 8.5.1).

Application

These extrusions have been used typically for structural applications requiring a combination of high strength and compressive properties and with good corrosion resistance but usage is not limited to such applications.

Certain processing procedures may cause this product to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
