PURPOSE. This Instruction describes policies for preventing and controlling health careassociated infections (HAIs) in patients, visitors, volunteers, and health care workers (HCW) within any health care setting in the Coast Guard. This Instruction also provides guidance and information on the prevention and control of diseases caused by infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and bloodborne pathogens (BBP) in health care facilities.
