CRC - Organic Agricultural Practices: Alternatives to Conventional Agricultural Systems
|Publication Date:||25 August 2014|
Organic practices are redefining world agriculture. As researchers and others begin to understand the detrimental effects conventional agriculture can have on local and global environments, more studies focusing on organic agriculture are appearing, including studies that compare organic practices to conventional ones. Innovative organic agricultural practices impact soil fertility, microbial growth, soil organism numbers, greenhouse gas release, and overall crop performance. Among the strategies available to farmers who pursue organic practices are a range of biofertilizers and natural pesticides, along with the breeding of new plant cultivars which can work with other organic practices to increase productivity.
