Diese Norm gilt für Sporthallen und Sporträume für Schulsport, Wettkampfsport, Vereinssport, Breitensport, Freizeitsport, Sport für Menschen mit besonderen Bedürfnissen, in denen z. B. die in Tabelle A.1 aufgeführten Sportarten ausgeübt werden können sowie für Mehrzwecknutzung.
Diese Norm ist sinngemäß anzuwenden für
- überdachte Sportflächen,
- Freiluft-Sporthall
- unbeheizte Sporthallen.
Sie gilt nicht für Hallen für spezielle Sportarten (z. B. Eissport, Leichtathletik, Klettern, Radsport, Reitsport, Tennis, Kampfsport, Bogenschießen).
