This specification covers the requirements for spray or immersion applied phosphate (i.e. zinc, nickel, iron, or manganese) coatings that are used on bare metal, precoated, and aluminum substrates. The physical and chemical properties of this conversion coating have been optimized to provide improved corrosion and adhesion performance under a primer (cathodic ELPO and spray primers).
