scope:
This Standard specifies the general requirements for the design, fabrication, and installation of pressure-retaining systems, components, and their supports in CANDU nuclear power plants. It also includes requirements that are specific to Class 1, 2, and 3 systems and components.
This Standard, to the extent specified herein, applies to all pressure-retaining systems and components and their supports in a nuclear power plant and takes precedence over other standards.
When this Standard is adopted for facilities other thanC ANDU nuclear power plants, the classification clauses should not be considered to be relevant unless
(a) the facility has a defined exclusion zone;
(b) access to the facility is controlled, permitting entry only by authorizedp ersonnel; and
(c) the reactor is situated in a containment that is capable of limiting releases to the environment in the event of a failure of a pressure-retaining component.
This Standard does not apply to containment system components classified as Class Containment that comply with the requirements of the CSA N287 Series of Standards.
Notes:
(1) This Standard includes requirements oaf regulatory nature that are commonly applied. These nontechniCa/ requirements are derived from Canadian legislation. The Atomic Energy Control Act and Regulations, as well as the appropriate acts and regulations of each province of Canada covering boilers and pressure vessels, detertmhein esc ope of a jurisdiction and the extent of the requirements for design registration and inspectioonf systems and components of a nuclear power plant in that province.
2) Imperia/ equivalent values to the SI units ure shown in parentheses for information only
