AOCS Official Method Determination of Alkalinity in Fats and Oils

The alkalinity of animal and vegetable fats and oils is determined without distinguishing between the various constituents. The method is not applicable to dry melted animal fats, nor to oils and fats with an acidity greater than 60% (mass fraction). Use AOCS Official Method Cd 3d-63 (see Notes, 1) for test samples in this range. This method is identical to ISO 10539 (2002).
