Use/relationship: The Ship Noise Surveys document the results of noise surveys that the Contractor performs during Builder's Trials. The Surveys provide the procuring activity with the information required to decide whether to accept the ship as is or to authorize additional design modifications. In addition, the Surveys provide the Government with information needed to adjudicate hearing loss claims.

a. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and preparation instructions for that data generated in response to applicable tasks of MIL-STD-1474 and the contract statement of work.

b. This DID provides the procuring activity with the data that demonstrates whether the asbuilt ship complies with specified noise performance requirements in the contract specifications.
