Scope of application

This technical code deals with the requirements on machines and devices for the welding of sealing sheets made of polymeric materials in earthwork and water engineering, for dump seals and for miscellaneous protective measures for the ground water. It is intended to give the manufacturers of the machines and devices instructions for the design and the equipment.

On the basis of the characteristics indicated in this technical code, the user should check whether and with which machines and devices the respective sealing sheets can be welded in a way suitable for the requirements, the materials and the building site.

The technical code relates exclusively to the welding of sealing sheets.

Part 1 of this technical code deals with the following joining processes: welding, adhesive bonding and vulcanisation. Part 2 relates to the building site tests and inspections in order to prove the weld quality in each case.
