Scope of application

In many cases, joints between plastic components by means of hot gas welding are manufactured with the aid of welding fillers. The suitability of the welding fillers exerts a fundamental influence on the service capability of the finished parts.

The base material and the welding filler must be coordinated for the welding with regard to the shape, the material form and the material type. Therefore, it is necessary to have information about certain material properties of the joining partners and it is expedient to check this.

This technical code describes technical terms of delivery and gives indications about the evaluation of the quality of welding fillers made of thermoplastics.

DVS 2201-1 includes indications and criteria for the evaluation of the weldability of thermoplastics. The quality requirements of the welds are described in the DVS 2203-1 technical code.

The essential points of this technical code correspond to prEN 12943:1998 with the same title.
