Scope of application
This technical code applies to the welding of flexible, polymeric sealing sheets which are utilised for the manufacture of sealing systems in:
- tunnels with closed and open constructions
- shaft structures
- caverns
- miscellaneous earth-enclosed structures in loose laying
This technical code is intended to give the responsible authorities, the building owners, the planners, the executing companies and the people responsible in the field of quality assurance instructions for the execution of the welding work and of the weld tests and inspections on the building site. It supplements the sets of rules and contracts of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) and the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), i.e. ZTV-ING and TL/TP-ING, and of the German Railways (Ril 853) as well as the recommendations of the German Geotechnical Society about sealing systems in tunnel construction (EAG-EDT).
In particular, the technical code takes account of the stringent requirements which, in the case of the applications in underground and earth-covered structures, must be set on the quality of the welded joints and thus on the proper execution in a way suitable for the materials.
The technical code gives instructions for the laying and the installation in so far as these may have an influence on the welding technology. The joints between the polymeric sealing sheets and other polymeric components are dealt with as well.
