scope:
This guideline standardises the procedure for floristic mapping
in the context of monitoring the environmental effects of GM
plants. Standardisation ensures a high level of reproducibility and
comparability of the results. This mapping method is used to record
spontaneously occurring (non-cultivated) GM crops and their wild
potential crossing partners and hybrid offspring resulting from
crosses between GM crops and these partners. The aforementioned
groups shall hereafter be collectively referred to as "plants to be
mapped". Planted or intentionally sown GM crops are not included in
the plants to be mapped. Provided that it has been correctly
registered, details of sites where GM crops have been planted or
intentionally sown can be obtained from the German genetically
modified organisms (GMO) location register of the Federal Office of
Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL; at http://www.bvl.bund.
