This guideline is applicable to active vibration isolators. It does not apply to passive or semiactive vibration isolators.

Elements of active vibration isolators can supplement the well-known passive ones where special tasks are involved. A vibration isolation system with active components, therefore, normally contains also passively acting components. Accordingly, DIN EN 1299 describes the required minimum specifications for selecting a vibration isolator (Section 6) and provides basic guidance for verifying the effectiveness of the isolation (Section 7). This guideline complements the guidance included in DIN EN 1299 as regards specific requirements for active vibration isolators.
