Environmental simulation - Exposure of materials to gaseous air pollutants

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 January 2012
Status: active
Page Count: 26
ICS Code (Other standards related to environmental protection): 13.020.99
scope:

This guideline applies to the simulation of the corrosive effect of environmental conditions (for example operating, transport and storage conditions) on materials and products (exposed objects).

It describes procedures so that on the basis of comparisons recommendations can be made for selecting materials and for their use in components with respect to their resistance to corrosion and ageing. The guideline describes general methods for the exposure of materials and components to gaseous air pollutants. Studies on certain materials, for example elastomers or natural stone, may necessitate additional requirements which should be defined in the individual specifications of these samples; they are not given here.
