Form measurement - Stability monitoring of form measuring systems

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 September 2013
Status: active
Page Count: 20
ICS Code (Linear and angular measurements in general): 17.040.01
ICS Code (Mechanical testing): 19.060
scope:

This standard describes the available options for monitoring the stability of form measuring systems. Stability monitoring is necessary in order to assess the long-term behaviour of a measurement process. It serves to verify that the measurement results always remain correct. Relevant examples are shown, and some of the parameters that are explained in VDI/VDE 2631 Part 2 and Part 4 to Part 7 are documented.

Stability monitoring includes the performing of scheduled measurements at the installation site in order to verify the metrological properties within specified limits. Documentation of the measured results in quality control charts (original data charts) is the representation of the metrological properties over time. It allows, where required, targeted intervention in order to maintain these properties.

This standard applies to form measuring systems. When performing form measurements with coordinate measuring systems, VDI/VDE 2617 Part 2.2 should additionally be taken into account.

The forms in Section 7 may be copied as templates for internal use.
