VDI 2067 BLATT 10

Economic efficiency of building installations - Energy demand for heating, cooling, humidification and dehuminification

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 September 2013
Status: active
Page Count: 12
ICS Code (Ventilation and air-conditioning systems): 91.140.30
ICS Code (Central heating systems): 91.140.10
scope:

This standard applies to the calculation of the energy demand of buildings, i.e. of rooms whose indoor air conditions are to be maintained, thus requiring inflows and outflows of energy and materials. The material demand is to be considered in analogy to the energy demand.

The energy demand, distinguished into the demands for heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification, is calculated as the annual total of input and output energy flows required for a room and, ultimately, a building to meet the requirements. This demand takes into consideration radiation, transmission and ventilation processes. Influences of energy transfer to the room, of the technical installations and of energy supply and conversion are not considered. Calculations use a defined set of meteorological data. The following data must be known:

  • dimensions and orientation of the room or building
  • building-physical characteristics of the building construction
  • location/site of the building
  • use of the room or building

The following is to be calculated:

  • for the 1st assessment goal, the building energy demand
  • for a defined basic use for the 2nd assessment goal, the reference energy demand, which takes into account a specific use of the building

The calculated building energy demand serves the following purposes:

  • assessment of the energy efficiency of the design and/or the building construction solution
  • comparison of energy efficiencies of different designs and/or building construction solutions for the same building project

The calculated reference energy demand serves the following purposes:

  • comparison of energy efficiencies of designs and/or building construction solutions for the same building project, taking into account the specific use
  • assessment of the specific use requirements in terms of their influence on the energy demand
  • basis of the subsequent calculation of the energy effort for installations and energy supply

The calculated energy demand values are not suited for the following purposes:

  • comparison with (measured) energy consumption values of other buildings, or of the building when executed
  • comparison with energy consumption or demand values calculated using earlier editions of VDI 2067 or using other methods
  • comparison with results of simulation calculations for arbitrary parameters
