Guideline VDI 4631 presents methods by which biogas plants can be comparatively evaluated with regard to technical, ecological and economic criteria not only in planning but also in operation. In this way a decision-making aid, among other things, is created for investors, owner/operators and other decisionmakers.
The guideline applies to biogas plants working with agricultural and/or industrial substrates. It is independent of the substrate used, the size of the plant, the technology as well as the potential utilization of the gas.
