Objective and scope
This guideline provides some basics supplemental to the International Standard ISO 10360-3, explains the specifications and gives guidance on the application of the standard to the acceptance and reverification testing of coordinate measuring machines with additional axes of rotation or additional swivel axes. Articulating probing systems are not included in the scope of this guideline.
VDI/VDE 2617 Part 4 applies to coordinate measuring machines with contacting probes. CMMs with optical probes are dealt with in VDI/VDE 2617 Part 6, Part 6.1, and Part 6.2. The present part shall be applied analogously to the testing of such CMMs having additional axes of rotation and swivel axes, if any. If a CMM uses both probing methods, the checking must also take into account both methods.
