scope:
The manual measurement method specified in this guideline can be used to determine the mass concentration of gaseous sulphur trioxide in moist exhaust gases from combustion processes and other industrial processes. The gaseous sulphur trioxide present in the exhaust gas is deposited as H2SO4 at a temperature in the range between 80 °C and 95 °C.
The method has been validated for concentrations up to approx. 50 mg/m3. The method is not suitable for dry exhaust gases (for example, sulphuric acid production plants).
This method is a conventional method, i.e., it is not traceable to a primary standard.
