This guideline describes the principles and defines the terms necessary for the use of image processing systems. It regulates a consistent terminology also in an extra-company environment. Thereto commonly used concepts are also included.

In order to ensure a general understanding of the guideline, a detailed physical and technical specification of the contexts is ignored on some points. Hence this guideline cannot replace a thorough induction into the principles of the industrial image processing, but is to highlight substantial coherencies and to encourage for further engagement with this topic.
